    I have an .avi file (with subtitles, not a separate subtitle file) that I encoded with TMPGE. On the monitor it looks fine, but when I burn to VCD the subtitles with 2 lines get cut off on the TV screen. Is there a way to fix this?

    Yes,

    When encoding ( sorry you will have to re-encode ) under advanced select image placement center ( custom size ) and then enter slightly smaller than VCD( or whatever ) values into the value boxes.

    So to shrink the video down by 5% use...
    336x230

    To shrink by 10%...
