i have FCP installed; i extracted sub/idx from .ts file and demux the video/video from .ts.

anyone tried to hardsub the subtitles to the video/audio, save it back to .ts as well as iPod format?

    thanks in advance.

No, and why are you trying to do this as .ts?
What is it you are wanting to accomplish as your end result after hardcoding?
Burning another DVD with hardcoded subs? Making a watchable file
for Computer/iPod playback with hard subs?
    More info please.

i need to convert .ts to (a) MPEG2 for DVD ; (b) MP4 for streaming ; both should be hardsub .

because i have FCP installed, i want to know how to use it for this purpose.

i have installed mpegstreamclip for processing ts, but it cannot do subtitles; i use ProjectX for extracting sub/idx

    Your on the right track:

    1. use Mpegstreamclip for converting Video ts to Quicktime DV Stream
    2. I'm not familiar with Project x. Can you use Project X for extracting
idx subs to a Quicktime .mov file ( since they are picture based) or
does it OCR the pictures and generate text?
If you can get Project X to convert to a .mov file, then
    3. Import the DV Stream file of the video and audio into FCP on
    track 1
    4. import the qt .mov file of the subs onto video track 2.
    5. check playback to insure subs are synced correctly in
    the Timeline with Video/audio
    6. Export the timeline out as a Quicktime .mov file.

then with this QT .mov file, you can:
    1. Use Compressor, ffmpegx, Quicktime Pro, or VisualHub to create
your Mpeg-2 for DVD, and your .mp4 for Streaming.

Does Project X export the subs as Picture Files?
IF so it is easy to compile those pictures into
a .mov file for use in FCP.....

various methods can compile pictures to a movie
( importing the stills into iMovie and rendeding out as a movie
file comes to mind) but if you have the exported picture files,
and a time sheet as to when they are to be displayed on screen,
you could simply import the sub graphics on a seperate video track in
FCP, and then adjust how they are displayed on screen ( time wise)
and then export the whole sequence out as a Quicktime movie
    to be rendered in Compressor.

The graphics would have to be saved with an Alpha Channel,
so that they do not display black over the video image by default.
Can Project X at least accomplish that?
