conversion hi8 to DV

i want to convert hi8 to DV
canopus 100 does a good job i read many times, but how about using a digital camera
(digital 8 or DV with a cable connected between the cameras)
is the quality comparable? if so i would buy a camera of course

is a DV camera a better option than digital8 although i may has loss of quality using a cable?

A Digital 8 camcorder should be able to export your Hi8 in digital format. I tranferred my Video 8 tapes to PC as DV using a firewire card. However, unless you want backward compatibilty, the Digital 8 camcorders are rather bulky compared to what else is around.
