    I tried to copy a 2-part VCD movie. Viewed from the original disks, both segments were clear and OK. However, after I uploaded the two segments to my hard disk (via file copy of the .dat files), the second segment had a very visible video distortion i.e. to best describe it, the picture breaks up slightly into white and purple pixels. The first segment exhibits no such problems at all. Can this be fixed and how?

    Its possible the original disk has a fault, scratch ?
    Have you tried a simple "Disk to Disk" copy, source > destination can be the same drive
