Personally, I like DVio http://www.carr-engineering.com/dvio.htm. I also like DVD movie factory, and Edit studio 3 http://www.puremotion.com, though the last one can be a bit buggy (esp. editing).
With DVio I can capture from my Razzle DV bridge to a firewire connected hard drive (Seagate 80GB in a Chump USA enclosure) through my old laptop (Toshiba Portege 3010CT) with a mobile pentium 266 (not even pII tech.). I use a cheap Chump USA brand pcmcia card in either slot. The drive has 2 firewire ports, one goes to the DV bridge, the other goes to the computer. This arrangement seems to use the least amount of computer resources.
Hope this helps, good luck.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
