Ok, here we go, I just picked up a canon ZR800 camcorder, realized that I dont have Firewire in my computer, not a prob. Went out to the store bought one (ST LAB Firewire 1394 F-152 PCI 1394a card). So far so good.
Opened up the computer put it in the slot, ran the install disc(installed Ulead video studio) worked great, plug the cable between the two, pop up came up, asking me what program I wanted to use(ulead, or Windows movie maker)uploaded some video clips of me playing drums, edited them all good.
Yesterday went to have some more fun editing videos, and NOTHING!!! no pop up no DING nothing.(the camrea is set to the right position) OK. Check'd the drivers...FINE, uninstalled the ulead program, SAME THING. Removed the Firewire and reinstalled everything again....NOTHING. Tried a different port, same thing.
So went back to the store where I bought it, they checked the "card" works fine, told me to put power to it. So I bought a cheap extender to power the "card". Installed everything again and NOTHING, no popups, no DING!!!
So Im stuck, I have no idea of what to do next. The only thing I can think of that it might be the cable, BUT when its hooked up to the camera it flashes DV-IN.
Can anyone HELP me?
Tried swtiching the "card" to a different port, still nothng, it recognizes the other card thats in one of the other slots, tried useing that slot aswell...........ARGH,
