Remember: DivX is a codec of AVI. If you like, you can use Virtual Dub to load your DivX video and change the codecs and save it. But why do you need to change anyway?

  3. Hi,

I captured a 12G AVI file from my digital video camera. I would like to convert it to a quality divx/mpeg4 file so I can play it on my DVD player. Can you please help? Thank you.

  4. Hey sund00,
I don't think you want Divx if your end goal is to play it on your DVD player.....your end goal should be VCD or CVD or SVCD...all of which are discussed at great length in the links to your left. But before you do anything go to your DVD player, write down the make and model number, then click on the DVD Players link to the left and see if your model is even capable of playing VCD/SVCD/CVD. SInce your end goal is to watch your home movies on your stand alone player this should be your first step to choosing your encoding path.
