  1. Hi,
I am trying to figure out the process of video capture and editing.
I was wondering how much importance the capture card is.
I have a Hauppage TV tuner card and a
Asus Ti200 video card ,both with s-video input.
I seem only to be able to capture at a low resolution (320x240 with yuy2).
    Thats with Virtual Dub.
Does the program read what your cards is capable of capturing. If I change the capture properties I get an error message. With Priemer 6 it completely locks and I have to shut down the program.
Also I cant seem to get the capture working for the Asus card. I dont know why ,but thats another issue.
Sorry about the long question, but do I need a different/better capture card?
I have an analog Canon Hi 8 recorded that capture really good video.
    Thanks, Brad

    No. I have one.

No. I find vdub very adequate for simple stuff like removing commercials, etc.

I have a wintv fm radio card and I am very satisfied with it. I can cap at 400x480 with compression (see my weak computer details) without frame drops. I use the btwincap driver ( btwincap.sourceforge.net ) and have recommended it to anyone who has asked me. Your card WILL cap at a higher resolution. It may be the supplied drivers.

  4. Thanks fmctm1sw.
Thats the kind of info. I needed.
Now I see that the driver sets the maximum resolution.
I assume that I change or add a driver in the Control Panel>Hardware>Video>Legacy Capture section.

If you are installing the btwincap, just follow the instructions that are on the web page. Also remember, you supplied tv apps may not work after you install this driver (a small price to pay in my opinion).

  6. Yea,I lost my ability to use my TV Tuner. And my FM Tuner.
I really want to do both.
Can you tell me why I loose that ability.
Also I tried to reinstall the tuner driver and I couldnt figure out where it was or how to open my Haupagge card to even chose what driver.I would get an error screen before the tuner could open.
Is it under the legacy section. What does legacy mean anyway?
Can I just switch the drivers when I want to capture and when I want to watch tv?
Also I downloaded the drivers from the Haupagge site and went through the reinstall and they seemed to load but then the didnt load.
    Do you know why .
The Conenant BTPci drivers seemed to stay as the loaded drivers. Is there anyway to swithch between drivers?
Sorry about all the questions. The drivers totally confuse me.
