I have an mpg file I'm trying to edit to cut some bits off either end, but I'm having no success.
I've tried using TMPGEnc but due to my cruddy processor (P3-500) I can't see the movie in the edit window.
I've tried using MyFlix and I can view the movie and select the portion I want and generate an output, however the output does not contain the entire portion I selected for that output.
I've tried using Virtuadub and saving the edited portion as an AVI which works, but I would prefer to be able to save it as an MPG. Does anyone know of any solution to my problem?
Thanks!

mpeg-1 or mpeg-2?
if it is mpeg-1 try wombie mpeg-vcr-
if it is mpeg-2 try m2 edit pro-
what version of TMPEGEnc are you using? I have heard that patience is virtue when cutting video with a not-so-good processor...good luck...End of Line. -
you can try "play a few seconds trick in mpeg tool (TMPGEnc)" and don't move slide bar so fast. I had celeron 466 MHz and i was able to cut in TMPGEnc, only sometime that had that problem.

You could also load the file in virtualdub and write down the timestamps for the points you want to cut. As I recall, the cut tool in tmpgenc lets you just type in the numbers. I know for a fact that the one in bbmpeg does.

Or avoid that editor like the Plague. I use Ulead Video Studio, it makes surgical quality editing, cutting and joining. Maybe you should try the demo. You may find out like I did, TMPGEnc makes a great encoder, but its editor needs a little more work.
