    Hi folks,

I recently decided to put my laserdisc collection onto DVD-R.

Now, I *could* pay through the nose (~$1000) to purchase a Pioneer CLD-99 (apparently one of the best ld players ever made) which has:

-Digital 3-D Motion Adaptive Y/C Separation Filter
-Separately adjustable digital noise reduction (DNR) for the luminance (Y) and color (C) signals
    -Adjustable sharpness control.

-But I'd rather not spend so much if there is video software or hardware out there that will perform the same functions on my computer.

I know little if anything about video capture cards and software editors/processors so any ideas, suggestions, solutions, or even all out belly laughs at my question would be welcome.

    Thanks very much.
    -E.

P.S. In case anyone wants to know more about this player and it's technology for better comparison to suggested solutions, there's an excellent review of the technology at:

3d comb filtering is best done at the source and then transmitted in s-video to your analog capture card. I would look for that in your player. There are any number of good spatial and temporal noise reduction filters for vdub. Some good ones are the 2d optimized cleaner 0.9 and kNRC ( diffrent filtering for light/dark and very fast ).

    Good luck

Thanks for the tip. I kind of figured it'd be best at the source, but I had to see if I was spending $ unnecessarily.
I'll look into the other stuff you mentioned too.
    Thanks again,
    -E.
