  1. Hello,

    I have the following "problem":
I have "Ghost in the Shell" as a DivX Avi and an Ogg Vorbis OGM. The DivX Avi is of crappy picture quality (from a video tape) and a 25 FPS Pal Video with German sound.
The OGM file has superior quality (DVD rip) and english/japanese Audio in a 23fps NTSC/Film format.

I want to do the following:
I took the Sound from the German DivX Avi as uncompressed WAV, and want to dub the good quality picture OGM and finally make a VCD of it (I'm aware of the steps necessary to make the FPS conversion, so audio and video are synched).

However I encountered the following problems:
The German video has a few seconds missing from the beginning and the end (in the beginning a flying logo is already there, whereas in the DVD rip the logo just comes flying in, and at the end of the german Audio the credits are cut off.)
So i want to take the sound from the OGM for the logo animation and credits, and paste it to the front and end of the German Wav.
But graphedit crashes on me when I try to write a WAV from the OGM file. I use Windows XP and set up the following Graph:
ogm-File--> Ogg Splitter-->PCM (from Audio Codec to give me a WAV, right?)-->File Writer (from Direct Show Filters) to write the wav. If I hit "Play", Graphedit crashes with an error in the Direct Show filters.
However I was able to get the DivX Video as an Avi without sound just fine.

So alternatively I tried to cut the logo animation and credits from the good quality AVI. But VirtualDub won't open the DivX 5 Avi, as it is only VFW and not Direct Show capable.

    Now my questions:
-Is it possible to open DivX 5 AVIs with virtualDub? If so, how do I do it?
-How do I get an uncompressed WAV from the OGM without the use of the crashing Graphedit?
-Alternatively: is there a relatively easy way to determine synchronisaton points in a (freeware) Video editing program? e.g. in this Ghost in the shell video, there is a scene where 2 radar blips change to numbers with a distinctive sound effect, that I'd like to use in order to synchronize the audio from the other video with the higher quality video?

I'd really appreciate any help on this. I already converted several Avis to (s)VCDs thanks to the excellent guides here, but the guide for OGM to MPEG1, 2 doesn't work for me due to the crashing Graphedit when trying to get sound.

Avi2Wav won't extract the OGG sound-track which I need from the OGM File.
