I have the All-In-Wonder and I've got the latest
version of MMC 7.1. I love everything and it
captures great, but now I'd like to start authoring
DVD.
I have SpruceUp, and it won't import my video clips
because they don't have the correct audio sampling
rate. (Spruceup is infamous for this... if it's not
48kHz, it's no good)
Is there any way to capture just to the right settings
so no further encoding or demuxing has to be done?
(Kind of like with the Video-CD registry hacks talked
about so frequently here... I love 'em!)

Okay, I found some of my own answer, but I still need
some help. I have Ulead Video Studio 5.0 and it has
an MPEG capturing setting for DVD. If I re-encode a
file with Ulead it goes into spruceup just great, but
if I try to set it up to capture with that setting, I
have to match the DVD MPEG resolution with a separate
setting for resolution and it's highest is 720 x 240
or something like that, and I need 720 x 480 !
The error says that 1) my set resolution has to match
my mpeg resolution and 2) maybe my video card is not
capable of that resolution. I'm pretty sure it is...
My tentative conclusion is that I have to get some
different software to do it, but what software would
that be? Is there an ATI setting that could make Ulead
allow that resolution on capture? Anybody? -
make a custom profile with everything else you want (bitrate, res, framerate, etc).
{possibly call it "dvdfromati1"}
then in the registry under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\MultiMedia\Features\TV\Video Capture\MPEG
(win2K, something similar in win9x, if you named it something unique above, like "dvdfromati1", search the registry for it).
then find your profile, it will be one of those under MPEG key.
there will be a dword called "SampleFrequency"
change it from value
ac44 HEX (44100 decimal)
to
bb80 HEX (48000 decimal)
and that should do it. -
Thanks patrickm,
I tried doing just what you said, (and I had tried
it before) but when I went back into MMC 7.1, my
new setting had been deleted! I tried it a couple
of times, and I got the same result.
Is there ANY software that can capture DVD-compliant? -
why not just demux the audio, decode/resample it, and re-encode it? audio generally goes pretty fast, it's video that takes hours.
i think MMC 6.3 would do 48Khz, but you can't use it if you have a radeon. the other problem was that i could never get it to do stereo audio with high resolution video. -
Did you edit the regestry then reopen the settings to see your custom settings?
That will undo any changes you made. You must never look at settings after edting the regestry. -
I didn't re-open the settings... I opened up the dialog to
select which setting to use and the "custom" setting was
blanked out, and "highest quality" was selected... weird.
Patrickm, I don't have the RADEON, so I'd like to try 6.3.
I've seen in other threads that you're a big fan of it....
Where can I get it?
Also, what program(s) should I use to demux & resample
it like you were saying above? (and how)
