Does the DVD support the 24bit/48kHz in 6-channel mode? i calculated it will be 6912kbit/s, but i'm not sure whether it supports that... any ideas?

dvd does support ac-3 6 channel or dts 6 channel. which format you are referring to? pcm wav is 2 channel. and the maximum bitrate for any type audio is 1536kbps.
-
The DVD-Video specs allow a maximum audio bitrate of 6144kbps.
Not all authoring applications or hardware players will support that, though. -
The maximum allowed audio bitrate is a function of the codec type. For LPCM, it's 6144kb/s; for MP2, it's 912kb/s; for AC-3 it's 448kb/s, and for DTS it's 1536kb/s. Note that DVD players are not obligated to support DTS, so whether or not a particular variant of DTS is supported is player dependent. Check the docs for your player to know for sure what it can handle. [Some players have a DTS passthrough connector for an external box to do the work. Some audio/videophiles prefer this arrangement because it gives them some additional control over what happens.]

DVD-Audio/SACD does support 24bit/192khz..but only in stereo
if anyone has solution for it, knows a lossless compression than write it. i have MLP encoder but it's only for DVD-Audio, DVD-Video cannot contain MLP Audio... -
It's not exactly what iker222 is looking for, but DTS has a 96/24 encoding option where you get 24 bit sound at 96 kHz. It allows for up to 6 channels.

Ditto for DTS. There are quite a few variable parameters in DTS, so even if a player sports a DTS logo, there's no guarantee that it will play all variants of DTS. Different DTS-capable players will have different capabilities. -
mine 2 dvd players can run 640kb/s AC3 but as tomlee59 posted not all are capables, deserve test first.
boys, i'm sure that you can help me, i don't want to start a new thread with seamless doubt.
i do dvds audio only with AC3 5.1(640k) using EncWAWtoAC3 and GUI_DVDauthor.
fantastic results.
as you know, GUI_DVDauthor can't load DTS, only AC3 and mp2 for audio only.
i was searching here yesterday one guide with free prog to author dvds audio only with DTS but could not find.
do you have hints please?
thanks -
@ raquete:
Muxman supports DTS input, but the free version might be insufficient for your needs.
DVD-lab PRO has a 30-day trial period, can be worth a look at it.
As a workaround, you could wrap the DTS source in a WAV container,
author your audio DVD with this fake LPCM input,
and later send the SPDIF signal from the DVD-player to the external receiver.
EDIT:
I have just checked the manpages for the latest versions of dvdauthor and mplex,
and these both should accept DTS audio. Better drop the GUIs altogether and
find the courage to face the command-line environment -
courage to face the command-line ? :P
lol, not me.
i got DVDLab Pro trial and is ok.
thanks for the hints. 8)
