    vcd layer 1 = 1150kbps
    svcd layer 2 = 2520kbps

    BUT

what if i use tmpgenc to encode the svcd at CBR 1150kbps. which will give me better picture?

has anyone had any luck with playing (S)VCD on playstation 2???

  2. layer 1 and 2??

VCD uses MPEG-1 for video and SVCD uses MPEG-2 for video.

"layer" uses refers to the audio and both VCD and SVCD generally uses MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio.

As for encoding a SVCD at CBR 1150? I don't know why you would want to, but a VCD at CBR 1150 would probably look better.

    I suggest you read:

its just that i thought the resolution of svcd might make it a better picture and if i have same bitrate it would be the same size as vcd, but im just a beginner so i thought i might ask

    thanks again for your reply
