I just went ahead and purchased it. All the debating was giving me headaches. lol
I bought the Pioneer DVR-104w/software from ESBuy for $265(+$15 for 2 day shipping)

Anyways, my question is...Is there a difference between the 104 and A04?
I read on ESBuy, that they're the same and that what they sell is the Pioneer version and not the OEM model. And that all upgrades are compatible with the A04.

So are they the exact same thing, cause the only difference i saw was that the A04 comes with a retail box and is $25 more than what i paid for?

    Congratulations,

I own the same burner, purchased in July for $285. Couldn't beleive the price had dropped below $300. I also bought the OEM version.
If you are fairly computer literate and don't need a lot of hand holding, you'll be fine. I just replaced cdrw in my computer and it fired right up. I use nero for the burning software. Only difference is the pretty box and software, maybe cable, but I just used my old stuff!

    You'll enjoy it

one is just the drive in a plain old box.

the other is the drive in a pretty box with some half ass crippled software.

I hate how they release crippled software with drives.

    Thanx Tumbar

Im not looking to replace my CD-Rewriter with the DVR-104, because when i decide to write music, im gonna use it. I've read about tests that sites have performed using the DVR-104/A04 and it's pretty slow.
My CD-Rewriter is 40x12x48, so it makes more sense to keep it.

I am going to make the DVR-104 my master drive though. Im just hoping that i don't run into any problems, as far as Nero or other software reading which one im using at a given time.

Anyone tried this and ran into any probs?
