I AM NEW TO BACKING UP DVDS.
IVE USED DVD DECRYPTER AND THINK IT IS REALY GOOD AND EASY TO USE..........BUT
IT WILL ONLY BACKUP UP TO 4.7GB.
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SIMULAR PROGRAME THATS EASY TO USE AND THAT CAN FIT BIGGER FILMS ON A 4.7 DISC.
IVE LOOKED AT OTHERS LIKE SMART RIPPER AND SO ON....BUT IT ALL SEEMS VERY TECHNICAL.
    CAN ANYONE HELP
    THANKS

there isn't an all-in-one app for backing up dvds larger than 4.7 to a dvdr. in fact i think that dvddecrypter(someone correct me if i'm wrong) is the only app that lets you do it with 4.7 disk, aka dvd5.look in the dvd ripping section then look to "DVD to DVD ripping methods" . under that heading click on "Doom9's Ifoedit guides". it's a bit tricky at first but by the time you are ready to burn, you probally will remember enough of the important "checks" so that you wont have to use this guide again. you will end up with perfect quality just minus the extras. we all, true dvd to dvdr rippers anyway, have to learn this or a simular technique sinse most dvds today are definitely 7 to 9 or more gigs in size.

  4. its actually 9.4 and they are 2 sided discs and no they won't cause most of your movies are dual layered and there are no dual layered burners, I doubt its even possible to do so, your commerical DVD's out there are stamped or pressed but they are not burned, just like your Commerical CD's are not burned either but stamped or pressed.
Yes blue Laser can but thats 2-4 years down the road, when they can finally get all the manufactures to agree in chipping the burners so they can't record any commerical DVD's or any other digital signal.

    i use the following-
    dvdecrypter-in ifo mode
    ifoedit-to extract menu's, unneeded audio track,etc.
VOBrator-to verify my extracted vobs work properly
dameon- to mount image made by ifoedit
    nero-to burn disk to disk

    i make "movie only" rips(no menus,etc.) unless my source was a dvd5
