AVi to VCD > help needed plz

hi,
i got avi video which properties is when played in WMP 8:
Audio Codec: MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
Video Codec: Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Decompressor
i want to convert it to MPEG-1 "VCD".
i used TMPGEnc and Vegas Video 3.0 but both of them doesnot recognized the video "picture", they just recognized the Audio so if i converted the avi ,i will just get mpg file with sound only.
i downloaded all Divx codecs 5 , 4 and 3.
so what is the problem thanks.

well NIMO CODEC PACK V 5.0 BUILD 7 was great to slove this problem and now i can encode the avi.

I'm having the same problem. I had Vegas Video and the latest codec from Divx.com. When I'd try to import a divx avi into Vegas, It would load two tracks - one for the video and one for the audio. The audio was fine, but the video track was all black.

So I downloaded the NIMO codec pack and installed lots of stuff from in it. Now when I try to open a divx file, the video loads fine, but the audio doesn't. It doesn't even create a track for the audio. I am, however, able to open a standalone mp3 file. It just seems to not be able to open the mp3 audio in the divx files.

What components from the NIMO pack did you install? Perhaps I missed something, or installed something that I shouldn't have.

Had a similar problem some time back.

Try this.

1) Uninstall all DivX codecs
2) Install DivX 3.11 alpha
3) Install DivX 5.02
4) Reboot.

Solved it for me.

well i got the same problem with some Divx but i use TMPGEnc Plus instead to convert this type of avi and they works good.
note: i got the link of TMPGEnc Plus but i can't give u it here, i can email it to u if u want.

I wonder if TMPGEnc PLus can solve my problem....

I have some mpeg and DivX videos that I like to burn them onto CDs so that I can view them on my DVD player. My DVD player can play VCDs. So TMPGEnc Plus is all I need? Or do I need some other hardware/software?

If it is so, please email me the URL if it is not too much trouble.

Nope. This didn't help. I uninstalled everything divx, then reinstalled, rebooted, and still have the same problem. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I downloaded the 14 day trial version of TMPGEnc Plus. I had used TMPGEnc in the past. It worked sometimes, but was very buggy. It crashed... a lot. Often it would crash after having encoded 75% of a full length movie - after about 45 minutes on my PC!

TMPGPlus seems to be the same software with a wizard added to it. I encoded one AVI to VCD with it, then started a second, and I got a system message popup that read something like, "Error -547638201 0431002." When I clicked OK, the same error popped up. This happened again and again, with no end in sight. I had to kill the process in Task Manager.

I'm a software developer, and I must say, the user should never see anything like that. But that's just my gripe. I don't mean to come off as a jerk, I'm just surprised that the author is now selling this product when it doesn't seem any better than the old free version. It just has a wizard now.

My real issue is that I still can't open any of my AVI's in Vegas Video...
