Sometimes when i try to convert avi to mpeg to make a vcd, the playback color is distorted. It would become a little reddish and change back to normal. This would happen every couple of seconds. I use Tmpgenc to convert. Any ideas??

What is the original file like ?, If you have the SMR (Angel portion) codec installed... Get rid of it
TMPGEnc
Select options > environmental settings
click the VFAPI plug-in tab
right click the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this several times until its at the top with a value of 4 -
For converting with TMPGEnc you need to use the codec that the original was converted into
What ever that may be.
You don’t choose one, it will automatically use the right one... Provided you have it installed. The Nimo codec pack will provide the most popular ones. You only need to install them all, for them to be used automatically.
Its only when you want to convert to a MPEG 4 type that you would need to choose a codec.
