  1. I have encoded a VCD using CladDVD first to rip the DVD, then DVD2AVI and then TMPGenc to convert to Mpeg format.

I used the following settings to encode the VCDas suggested on the forum)

    2 pass VBR ( Birate abt 2300)
    Motion Search set to high
Detect scene changes set to off
    Soften Block Noise to 32
    Interlaced

The Mpeg movie was amazing quality. But when I used VCDcutter to cut the movie the two parts that were cut started playing in jerks. Even after using Nero 5044 to write the VCD, the movie played in jerks on my Sony VCD played too.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES.........

PLS ALSO SUGGEST THE BEST SETTINGS IN TMPGEnc to encode a VCD of the best quality.!!!!

    SiddharthM,

    >> ...the movie played in jerks on my

    I use nero 5.0.4.4 too.

Anyways, I have these same problems of jerks,
    fast/slow sudden movements, etc.

I've ben experimenting for the last 4 or 5 weeks on
the problem. And, I think I may have the solution.

Go and turn back on the:
    [x] Detect Scene Changes

I think that this may solve yours (and, maybe mine) jerks
and stuff when played back on stand alone DVD player.

Note, I Only just found this out an hour or so ago!
So, I haven't really concluded that this is the cause
of these motion problems. But, please give it a try,
    and let me (us) know!

Also, can someone explain why we are TOLD to uncheck
this box? ...when, it may turn out that we need it on
anyway. These jerky motions problems also play back on
powerdvd, windows media player, BSplayer, DzMovie player,
etc. So, why turn this box off???

    Thanks!

  4. I think that the problem may be as you have said.

I think that unchecking detect scene changes may solve the problem as I had not faced the problem before. It happened only after using the above settings......if anyone has any other suggesssions pls write....
