  1. okay, i have a satellite system and i would like to encode directly from it at dvd quality to 1- burn to dvd 2- re-encode using divx for cdr.

i have an ati all-in-wonder radeon and i am using powervcrII 3.0
    currently i have a p2- 400 with 384mb of pc100 memory (obviously can't handle... ).
i am looking at upgrading to an amd athlon xp1800 (1.533gigs i think) and 768mb ddr memory.

    i have two questions:
1- in powervcr, the "dvd quality" setting is ntsc standard (720x480?) and the mpeg2 bitrate is at 4000k(?)- (sorry, not in front of it right now...)... is this what i want to use or should i "tweek" it to something else?

2- is the system i described that i'm looking at upgrading to powerfull enough to do this?

    tia!

  2. The AthlonXP is definitely powerful enough for capturing real time 720x480 at any bitrate (Although I'd stick with MMC over PowerVCR if you have the built-by-ATI Radeon).
