(Sorry if this is a repost, I tried before and it didn't seem to make it to the forum).
Anyone have a Toshiba 3109 with the new 3.0 firmware? I'm interested in knowing if the newer firmware improves the players ability to play vcds, and if you've seen any change in behavior, assuming you had an earlier firmware version before. I'd love to get a copy of the firmware - the toshiba repair place wants $50 to replace the chip (I'm assuming toshiba was smart enough to socket the chip, in which case this is a total rip off - if it is surface mount, especially one of those high pitch tsop connector packages, it's a resonable price) but they won't even order the replacement chip until I bring in the machine and leave it with them. And to top it off, they charge $50 for the chip - for $100, that's a fare bit towards buying a new player. So, anyone have a copy of the firmware I can get?
