Hope you don't mind a suggestion or 2.

There are lots of recent posts on skipping.
Read and try those ideas that apply.
When you return if you need help put as much info as possible on your hardware, software and the steps you used to get where you are.
You will get lots of help.

  3. well i doesnt really skip, instead it kinda scratches. Its like the disk is scratched or something, but this has happened to a number of vcds. I use nero 5.5 and select video-cd. i use PAL to encode and usually burn at a low speed. Any ideas??

  4. Is it skipping in stand-alone player or on the computer. I don't know if my assumption is right, but I have burned VCDs for quite a while and tested them on quite a number of DVD players and the results are: Some of the units skip and contain cracks in the audio while others play just fine. What I'm saying is that older DVD models might say that they also play VCDs, but might only play factory-burned or professionally burned VCDs. The best DVD players to play home-burned VCDs are the ones that say they can read DVDs, VCDs, MP3, CD-R/RW all in one.

  5. It happens on both the computer and the dvd player. What i noticed is that it happens to the newer vcds. I have burnt vcds in the past with no problems.

To narrow it down we have to eliminate some obvious stufff so we need a little more info on your files.

Describe this scratching. Remember we cant see or hear it. Do you see ripples in the video, is it sound only problems?

Are they compliant vcd? if not what are the video and audio specs.

What tools did you use to encode.

When the play skips on your PC. What happens if you play the same original preburn mpeg on your PC?
