Lo all,
Let me first say that I am far from a guru when it comes to this. I'm your standard "I tinker a bit in Vdub" guy.
What i am wondering is; when I have my video on disk waiting to be burned, does it really make any difference at which speed I burn the dvd at?
I have heard that it is best to burn at the slowest speed your burned accepts, in order to prevent skips, block and blips, so I am wondering if this is true? Or can I just use the Max speed of the burner and get the same result as if I burned at the slowest?
Thanks!

You will likely hear opinions for both options. I would suggest one speed below the rated speed of your burner or your media, whichever is slower. JMO.

Ahhh...the often debated subject of "How fast to burn vids?"
Well, I'll put my two cents worth in...as a "rule-of-thumb" I burn at 4 & 6x.
With 4x on archival, and 6x on anything else, whatever the media is rated at.

Typically: Assuming a 16X drive: 16X or 8X media at 8X
I've gotten worse burns with a 16X drive on a 4X burn.
Assuming a 8X drive: all media rated 4X or higher: 4X;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,

It depends on your burner and media.
Burn the same 4.0GB+ movie at 4X, 8X, 12X and 16X using the same media from the same batch. Use DVDinfoPRO or Nero CDSpeed to check for errors and compare. If you change media type do all this over.
Using TDK 16X DVD-R's on my NEC 7170A (original firmware), I get far fewer errors burning at 12X than at 8X - go figure!
