Need advice on installing a Lite on 163-ltd

I currently have my hard drive as primary ide controller and my dvr-103 and the secondary ide.
How should I connect the lite on dvd drive? I read not to put it on the same cable as the hard drive but is it ok to make it a slave to the dvr-103?
The main use for the lite on will be ripping and playing dvds and cds, no on the fly copying is needed.

Im not understanding your message. All I gather is that you have a hard drive that is primary and you want to add a dvdr drive.? If that is what you have then put the dvdr drive on the second ide interface and set the jumpers as primary.

I installed the lite on drive last night. Pretty easy install. I made it a slave to my dvr-103 on the secondary ide cable. XP booted up and in no time it was recognized. Ran the firmware update from lite on site and boom it was ripping dual layers at an average of 5-8X. I saw a 14.1X at the end of a dvd5. 40 bucks very well spent
