    Hello there,

Some days ago i installed the k-lite codec pack and now nothing will work. Some Dvix videos play in the divx-player, but all other videos including quicktime wonīt play. I canīt play my DVDs. VLC doesnīt play anything.......
    After deinstalling k-lite nothing changed.

    Hope someone here knows help.

    Greetings

What happens when you play with VLC? Just black? It uses it own decoders so it should not be affected by k-lite.

Sometimes its just black. In some cases there are some blue shemes.

  4. Fixing a broken system after KLite problems is difficult. This is why most people here recommend against using codec packs.

You might just have a video overlay problem. Go to your graphics card's setup applet and see if adjusting the video overlay settings will get you a picture.

Try using Sytem Restore to restore the system to where it was before you installed KLite.

You may have to format your drive and resinstall Windows and all your applications. Fun huh?

    i nearly guessed it.

    Edit:
Now, i donīt know what iīve done. In fact i didnīt do anything, but after browsing through the preferences of my graphiccard i have a picture....... now i go testing some dvds.

    BIG THANKS

Black or blue screen sounds like a hardware acceleration/video overlay isssue.

Do you see any video in windows media player?
You can try disable hardware acceleration in windows media player under tools->options->performance and drag the video acceleration slider to disable. Then play the video and if it works it's a hardware acceleration problem.

Or do you have multiple monitors/tv-out? Then be sure to se the main monitor to the one you are using now under control panel->display->advanced.

Maybe that helped too: before posting i tried to erase unneeded codecs with the codec sniper. But that didnīt seem to help. After your tipps with the hardware problem I just clicked through all the menues of my graphiccard preferences.
The only thing that could have affected somthing was some optimizing tool.

Yep, probably some graphic card setting.

Now stay away from huge codec packs that messes up everything.
