sound only in left speaker

ok this is driving me insane! I have a wintv go card and am running windows xp on a 1.4athlon with 256ram. I was able to record sound through both speakers two days ago, but today when I tried to encode, the sound was only coming through the left speaker. (i know my speakers work perfectly, i tested them). I have no idea what would cause this. I went into my volume settings for line in, and I changed the balance all the way to the right, and instantly I got no sound coming from virtual dub. Is this a sound card problem? or is it with my wintv card?

it might be your source, if the source is in mono, then youll only get one channel of audio sometimes.

but a simple solution is to capture the audio in mono, then when you play it back you sould hear sound from both speakers.

but you wont get stereo (dual channel unless you capture and convert it as stereo)

Maybe I didn't understand you correctly, but:

That's for the PLAY on the line-in, but have you checked the RECORD settings for the line-in input? It has a balance control as well. So does the master record input (and the master play as well)

right-click the little speaker icon - open volume control - options - properties - recording - OK

aha figured it out... oddly enough I get sound from both speakers from line in when the audio jack is only plugged into the card half way. If I plug it in the card all the way the sound is gone. Crazy, but works now Thanks
