i was told by sony to screw the cap card and sound card and just buy a vcr with 1394 in out then pass through my dv cam or go straight to computer ne one try the vcr method?will the 1394 dv out be received as a digital signal and be able to be captured straight to my computer?

Unless you have a digital VCR, I don't think that a 1394 output will be included on any VCR player. The 1394 (i-link or firewire) connection is only useful if your VCR or receiver is getting a digital signal. For example, some sattelite receiver will have a 1394 connection which you could probably connnect to your computer.

sony says they make the vcr with a 1394 in out but they never gave me the model # im finding out now and ill post my findings
