  4. I have Power DVD for XP, and it still wont work. Chances are, is that Win DVD wont work either. In window XP, it said something about I/O device error.

The virtual device driver SCSI1HLP.VXD in Window's \SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS is no where to be found in my comp, when I run the Search program.

  5. Playing VCD in WinXP...

You can try a few things to get good results...

Many DVD releases in the US come with something called PC Friendly on disc. If you place a DVD in your PC, it will prompt you to install PC Friendly automatically if the program is on the disc. All it does is install rudimentary drivers and a front end to Windows Media Player that allow you to play DVDs on your PC.

You can also look in the Tools section of this site for free DVD player software. I suggest the MaXimus DVD Player, for this. Just make sure you also download the Free Codec Installer that is at its official website. I believe the included codecs will allow you to play SVCDs too, but I'm not sure.

You might want to try a program designed specifically to play VCDs through Windows Media Player. I like Ravi's VCD Player, which you can download HERE. Another option is QuickVCD Player v3.0, which can be found at c|net's Download.com, though it seems a little buggy at times.

Or you can just say to heck with it and try something designed to replace WMP. One excellent piece of software is Sasami2K, which plays DAT, AVI/DivX, MPEG and MOV, along with other media. You can download it from http://www.sasami2k.com/ in order to test it out.
