I get the above message when I try to preview mpg files in SVCD2DVD. WMP also failes to play mpg files as well. I used Gspot to analyse the codecs needed for the files and it tells me that the codec is installed. I also downloaded and installed several codec packs but that didn't work. The files will play in other players like Media Player Clasic and VLC media player.
Is there a way to reinstall all of the codec files or is that some troubleshooter that might help? This is all new to me and any help would be more than appreciated.

MPC and VLC has a built in dvd/mpeg2 decoder. Uninstall all codec packs and just try ffdshow.

Thanks Baldeik for the response. I did what you suggested but still no luck running mpg files on WMP and SCVD2DVD. GSpot shows a lot of codec files still installed. It also seems to be able to identify mpg files. Any other thoughts?
