  1. I have tried to convert .dat to .mpg with a file I dl. The .dat file is 811,000 kb but the converted .mpg file is only 274,000 kb. I also get a message from VCDGearGUI telling me that the process has been completed but when I tried to convert again the progress bar only goes about 1/3 of the way and then I get a message saying the file has a bad dat signature. What can I do with this file if anything???? The converted file will not play and I suspect it is because the file is not really "complete"

    Peace

  2. I have had all sorts of issues with VCDGear <grrrrr>
Try the conversion tool included in VCDEasy.

If you just want to play it on a pc.. rename it to .mpg
If you want to burn it to a vcd use nero (it handles .dat ok)
    For everything else see VCDEasy.

Sounds like the original mpeg is corrupt, try loading it into TMPGEnc and re-encoding it. You may be able to fix the problem.

    AVI > Browse > Your.dat
WAV > Browse > as above

    Load VCD template

    Click START
