Help with a downloaded movie please

Ok i know how to make great back up copies of dvd's in svcd formatt using, smartripper, dvd2avi, tmpg and nero but what i would like to know is ....i downloaded a movie off kazaa, its in AVI formatt. How do i convert it to make it svcd?? its just when u make a svcd off an original dvd by the time you use tmpg there is 2 sepparate files video and audio, but these downloaded file are not sepparate, its just one file (the whole movie video and audio) in AVI formatt. any help would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

The movies usually on Kazaa and Morpheus are in DivX format.

ty for the help if it is a divx file. Its almost done downloading but says its a .avi file is that the same as divx? if not then how do i convert it from avi to svcd?? i mean like i said know how to do it off an orignial dvd and you end up with a sep video and audio file that you combine in tmpg, but this already has video and audio combined before tmpg. If anyone downloads movies off kazaa and converts them onto svcd on a regualr basis could you please lend some help here. thankyou to all

Load the downloaded file as your video source in TMPGENC. It should pick up the audio source as being the same file. If not, load the file as the audio source also. Select the SVCD template... and encode!!!
