  1. I have encoded a home movie that is just over 2 hours long in MPEG1 format. The file ends up being just over 2GB. I want to make this a VCD, and burn it on to one DVD+R. I have followed the guides here to a "T". Unfortunately, they assume you already have the VCD's broken down. What do I use to make this 2GB MPEG1 a single VCD movie that I can put onto a DVD+R. I am trying to make this very simple.

    Someone please HELP!!

What did you encode it to ...VCD standard or just some mpeg1.....
Most burning programs support making a VCD out of files as long as they are in correct format...Standard VCD is mpeg1 252x240 29.97fps 1150kbps video and 224kbps audio.
For non standard you can mess with bitrates and sizes...but mpeg1 is a given.
If your DVD burner supports making vcd's then it should be straight foward.

  3. It is just a MPEG1 file. I am doing it through Dazzle Creation Station. Now if I only take 10minutes of the file and make a VCD via NERO and burn it to a CD-R Nero says it is Non-Standard, and it has to re-encode it. So my guess is the original MPEG1 is of no standard. Moviestar doesn't appear to give me many options.
(Should I be using something else to capture?)

The problem that I run into is what do I use to take my original MPEG1 and put it in the proper standard so that it uses the entire file, and it doesn't want to break it up to fit onto CD-R's.

TMPGEnc will do the VCD-compliant encoding just fine.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  5. TMPGenc will take my original MPEG1 and break it up into the separate folders. Leaving the original movie length intact?

TMPG will just encode the file to VCD standard or whatever you tell it to do...
If you want to use Nero with out tit reencoding ....just uncheck the box where it says "create standard compliant CD"

TMPGenc will re-encode your MPEG1 into a VCD compliant MPEG1 for you. It won't break it up unless you ask it to.
