  1. I am having problems converting from DivX to (S)VCD compatible mpeg. I would prefer to make SVCD's. Well here is my problem. I Convert my DivX with TMPEnc to a supposedly compatible mpeg and then I load it in Nero..it analyzes it and says it is not compatible then tells me it can convert it for me after I spent 4 or 5 hours waiting for it to convert into a quality I tryed so hard to make good. I don't see why Nero would want to convert a file that is already compatible. And this takes another hour and a half. Anyways, if there are any unanswered questions about my problem that you need to help me just reply (or email me directly @ G_Acker21@hotmail.com) and I will get back quickly since I would really like to perfect my encoding skills quickly :).

  2. when Nero complains that the file is non-complaint, try turning off compliance checks and burn anyway, you never know, you might just get lucky and find that your DVD player has no probs with it!

  3. could work possibly...I will try that but if anyone else has any info on some kind of mistake I could have made making the mpeg..I followed instructions I found on a site. I have another question I just noticed...I made an mpeg-2 (SVCD compatible) and it is a file on my desktop...I click it and try to play and nothing comes up..black screen...is this normal for mpeg-2 files? I have never had an mpeg-2 files before so I am unsure and it did not do that on any mpeg-1 files I made.. Can someone also tell me where I can find properties on mpeg files in windows media player..all I can find is what codecs it uses. thanx.

  4. To play mpeg-2 files on your comp, you must have an mpeg-2 codec installed. If you have any DVD player software then you will have one already, if not there is a freeware mpeg-2 codec available in the tools section.

Re the SVCD. Did you use one of the TmpGenc SVCD templates, if so, which one. Also, when attempting to burn with Nero, make sure you check the correct button for NTSC or PAL to match the Tmpgenc template you used.
