  1. JVC XV-505 DVD Player is listed in the compatibility list on this site as being able to play DVDS & VCDs but as not compatible with CDR or CDRW media. This explains to me why my VCDs that are either copies or created from captures from my TV card don’t work. Is there a way to burn ''Original'' VCDs or otherwise convince this DVD Player to play. My unsuccessful current program is Nero and it has failed in direct coping from original disks & in creating from mpegs. Surely Original VCDs were burnt at some stage?

    Thank you for any help.

  2. Commercial VCDs, DVDs are pressed/burnt using commercial silver metallic platters. CD-R/RWs use an organic dye substrate - not all players can read them  . Your best option is to experiment with different CD-R brands and substrates (gold, silver, purple, etc.) until one works. Some that don't claim compatibility with CD-Rs will actually play certain brands of CD-R but not others (like my CD player in my car) .
