For years I have been converting my avi files to DVD files (BUP, IFO and VOB files) because my standalone player only played DVD files. Now, I just bought a new player that will play DIVX, so how can I burn a compilation of say 10 avi files onto a DVD to watch on my standalone without any conversion?
By the way, I did check the forums and couldn't find any reliable posts, so that's why I'm posting!! Thanks!![]()

1. They must be authored using a divx authoring tool

The standalone DVD Player plays my AVI videos, but doesn't show subtitles in SRT format!
I tried SubEdit238 and converted SRT to SUB/IDX format but without any success.
How can I view accompanying subtitles? Please be descriptive (non-technical) in your suggestion.
Sorry and thanks.Last edited by ConverterCrazy; 23rd Jun 2012 at 07:00. Reason: Forgot to add what I have tried at my end

Hi ConverterCrazy,
1) Your AVI and SRT names must be IDENTICAL. For example Drangon.avi & Dragon.srt. Any deviation and your are out of luck!
2) Put your AVI and SRT files into one folder. Create a Folder called DRAGON and put your AVI & SRT in there.
3) Now try viewing your movie Dragon.avi on your dvd player ... it should be there.
BTW, what is your dvd player Model & Brand?
Post back your result for the next person!
Thanks,

Thanks gonwk.
The DVD player make is Videocon -- 5 years old but fully functional. Will post feedback ASAP. -
The subs may not play automatically. You might have to turn them on using the subtitle button on the remote control.

Thanks, manano. I'll try your suggestion as well. Pl see my reply below.
@gonwk
Thanks once again.
The file names were not Identical! But, making them identical didn't work in my case. I had to insert spaces in the file name which I had removed earlier.
Earlier, the file names read like singertitlegenre.AVI and singertitlegenreEng.SRT from singer_title_genre.AVI and singer_title_genre_Eng.SRT.
It is a 4 minute song in some foreign language. I had the English translation of the lyric and I made subtitles from the text after spending a lot of time in fixing timings.
