Yes, Vcd4me Is absolutly correct on that one Imesh is definatly the better of p2p however if you have an antivirus or should I say if you don't have antivirus running all the time and your prescanning every dl as you download it then you might get a viurs or two Imesh is very big or should I say I have gotten a few virus from Imesh. However with antivirus running It tell me's how many there were! So becarful and happy sharing.
One last thing if you have partner in any type of newsgroups or you are getting sick of the poor quality of the movie or mp3 file or anything you are dl'ng I highly recommend Grabit for you downloading pleasues granted not all of the movies are clear dvd quality but most of them are pretty darn close. Otherwise use imesh

all versions of kazaa suck big time, most files are missnamed or blank. use newsgroups if you know how. i currently have imesh, gnucleus (which is the fastest download once it starts) and filetopia. kazaa got way too big for its britches, its great too have alot of members, but only when they dont misname files and share bogus files.

By the way now I only share video files in mpg1..so the can be written direct to Non standard VCD without any changes(or lenghty recodes)

You have obviously not tried Imesh lately. They have everyting,with faster download speeds

Also to jeex I agree that you can get more out of other sources like irc but boy does it take patience

Think again, the first thing people do is convert them to Compliant VCD mpegs, in fact most people look for the DivX AVI's as they are half the size, let me know your handle so I can avoid downloading yours

sorry maybe it is version 3.2

So is what you're saying is I can download 1 file from say 4-5 people at once to get speeds over 70kbs, just like Imesh.

I also can't get my version to work where did you get it from?

The problem I'm having is I can't get it to load everytime I start winmx it is the old version.

Also is the multipoint dl from winmx similar to Imesh, where you can download one file from a few diffrent users to get fast downloads.

The only halfway descent quality divx movies I have found on KaZaa have been over 700mb...My mpeg1 movies are higher quality and around 715 to 730mb.....and they all work(unlike half the avi) and have no sync problems(unlike half the avi files)....

I finally got the new winmx to work.
I had to uninstall old version

Now if we can only get everyone around here to use winmx we'd all make out great.

I downloaded a song at 230 kbs on a cable modem thanks to the new winmx version 3.2

Also to let other people know it is very similar to imesh

One more thing is that I can't use Kazaa or other similiar soures because the port is blocked by my ISP. Any ideas about how I can download stuff with no news server and no IMESH or Kazaa type of thing? Will IRC get around the firewall issue?

Uh, Gnutella will get around it. Set it to use 8080 port hosts, this is the standard net port and since Gnutella uses HTTP for its com, it will look like legit net traffic and not "p2p activity". IRC I think can be set to use other ports. I know it randonly generates port numbers for activities. Whatever your ISP is, find out how their firewall works and use another way. Gnutella port 8080 is the easiest I believe. An issue to be more concerned about is the cap they are putting on net users now. Most of canadas broadband users now have a 5 gig a month limit! This kills me, this is all total bullshit, what right do they have to restrict what your line is doing and who can contact you and how?

Don't get movies off of filesharing crap programs. Maybe you can get small file sizes or ok download speeds but the quality sucks and the selection is quite small.

Newsgroups... I like em. I get 12 or 14 movies a day and they are nice 700-800 mb svcds. The quality is wonderful but the speeds I have been getting have dropped. I'm going to switch to irc. A friend of mine brings down 20 movies a day and he just ran out of movies to dl.

If anyone knows what servers to connect through on mIRC please tell me.

But i stress using newsgroups.

I know it's another big secret the irc users have "hey let's brag about how fast we get movies but psst don't tell anyone where to download from let's just keep it a big secret, if they learn where the channel is then it's ok will let them join in on the fun"
I'm sick of everyone telling p2p users to get mirc I learned it and used it and almost every time I go to sleep when I wake up I'm disconnected then I go back on and have to get back in line which is usually 10 people deep.

Someone even told me a few channels to use but you can't even get in!

Think its time to get out the shovel, its getting rather deep in here. First problem with your little story, a svcd is atleast 2 files, both being 700-900 meg, not just 700-800 for the entire thing. Second, getting 20 movies a day, give it up. On a good day, could maybe get 4 decent movies. You figure that each movie is 2 files(min), download each half of the flick, average around 150k/sec, each part takes around 2hrs to complete. So 4 hours for a movie, times that by 20, dont know about yourself, but in the math i learned, thats not going to add up. I realize you can have multiple downloads going at once, but as soon as you start doing that, your speeds drop like hell, the same thing that was going to take 4hrs to complete, is now going to take you 8, 12, 16, 20, ect. Next time you attempt to be a little bullshit artist, maybe you should do some research so you dont come off looking like a idiot. Maybe stop watching all the "movies" you have downloaded, and start reading a bit.

I have gotten as much as a couple of movies a day off of KaZaa.....But thats when there are many out there with descent conections.......(which is few and far between)
I have also sustained download speeds of 160-180kps on KaZaa also....I assume thats when I hook up with someone who's close by and on DSL or better.
AND remember every peer2peer type app is only as good as the people on it....You may have Multiple T's but if the person you are downloading from has a 14.4 modem....guess what speed you download at??
Also if everyone would share a few files we would all get better choices and faster.....regaurdless of ur P2P app.

"Kazaa Lite" is the BEST for Movies, trust me I have tried many & Kazaa Lite ALWAYS works for me, I get on RIGHT AWAY & start downloading!
I tried Winmx but you just wind up in some F***ing Que waiting with 30 other people to download. I tried Gnutella which has no selection & slow downloads & also NeoModus which also proved just Frustrating.
Get Kazaa Lite, I have had download speeds of 240 KBPS! in some cases but it's not hard to find 100 KBPS (assuming you have a cable modem-If not Get One Dude!!)

P.S. - I have the MIRC software but have not decided to take the time to try & figure out how to do it & I don't feel like "Negotiating" with other users to get downloads.

Anybody use MIRC & is it worth Pursuing? PLEASE RESPOND!
