  1. Ok...

I have use to differnt methods of converting an VCD/SVCD to DVD.

1.) Using DVD2AVI / TMPGENC and another using TMPGENC / DVD Patcher / BeSweet.

In both cases, I end up spilting the files up in to seperate files and then try and use TMPGENC to convert the 2 files to DVD.

The 2 files are valid and both load into TMPGENC and start working through the conversion process....

Yet when the file is done converting... I have a silent movie. NO AUDIO.

If I check the seprate audio file, it plays fine on it's own.

    Any one???

OK, it;s always a good idea to say WHICH version of TmpGenc you are using, and what operating system.

I know you are using XP, and verstion 2.54 of TmpgEnc.

Also, the SVCD files play fine in Windows Media Player, and in Power DVD.

Well, the SVCD/VCD files are converted to 48khz, for the DVD stabdard.

I guess this all goes back to the ORIGINAL problem. He can play these SVCD files in Windows Media PLayer, or Power DVD, but for some reason, TMPGENC will NOT open the audio portion of the files.

  5. Okay...

Let me put up more specifics......

I am using the LATEST version of TMPGenc in the Windows XP enviroment.

Both VCD and SVCD play on this machine fine in WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.

I have come across 2 differnt ways to convert VCD/SVCD to a DVD. One method uses DVD2AVI to seperate the files and converts the audio to 48. Then I am to use TMPGenc to put the 2 files back together while it converts to DVD. - This method produces a DVD (MPEG2) file which has NO SOUND.

Method two uses TMPGenc to seperate the files...... Then a program called DVD Patcher makes adjustments to the header and then I use BeSweet GUI to convert the audio file to 48K. I take the 2 files and place them in TMPGenc again and try to convert them to DVD... This method produces a DVD (MPEG2) file with NO SOUND.

All I want to do is be able to convert SVCD to DVD... and so far I haven't had any luck!

    HELP!!!!!!!!!

OK, i've got a simple question..is this normal for TmpgEnc to NOT open an SVCD file?

I've had no problem doing this in WIn2k or XP. But every response here is to demux the file, and use sep vid/audio files for use with TmpgEnc.

I just open the file in TmpGenc, choose the DVD template, and it converts. Very simple.

  8. same here. my tmpgenc program running on xp has no problems opening up both SVCD and VCD mpegs and they're easily converted to any other format i want....

  9. DVD2AVI is creating 2 files...

    1.) is a .d2v file (video)
2.) is a .mpa file (audio)

Now, if I select this file (.mpa) it opens and plays in WMP and Music Match.

It's just that when I use these 2 files in TMPGenc and convert the file to DVD, I just get a silent video file...

    What am I doing wrong?

    Chris

(P.S. - MUSICNYMAN - I verified that my DVD2AVI set up is the same as you have in thread http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=95624&highlight=dvd2avi )

  10. very strange. dvd2avi should be creating a .wav file, not a compressed mpa file. make sure channel format is set to "auto select", and if you have to, force it to do"linear PCM" under channel format. i'm sure tmpgenc can do .mpa files, but i always use a raw .wav file and i've never had problems. i would just play around until you get a .wav file and see if tmpgenc likes that better....sorry, that's all i got...

  11. musicnyman...

All the doc's I can find on the net show the defaults on DVD2AVI as always converting to an .mpa file. I can't find anywhere that it shows it converting to a .wav. Do you know of any links that show the proper settings to get the DVD2AVI .wav conversion settings?

TMPgenc does accept the .mpa file, but..... it only gives me the silent treatment....

    heh heh....

Thanks for any input... desperate I am...
