I authored a DVD containing 4 episodes of a TV show I watch... for some reason 3 out of the 4 episodes worked fine but the 2nd episode on the disc contained no sound. I didn't want to have to have to go through the entire process of creating the DVD again, so I thought I would see if I could simply fix that one episode. So, I ripped the audio of the episode off my HD(then used BeSweet to put it in AC3 format), ripped the video of the episode from the DVD(since the video was fine), and used Muxman to put them together. I used PGCdemux to get the celltimes.txt so my chapters wouldn't be screwed up. I then took the VOB, IFO and BUP file that Muxman created, renamed them so(from *01_* to *02_*) so it would replace the erroneous file. I burned the disc again, and it looked like it worked but looks are deceiving.

    Here are the issues :

    1. When I press menu during the second episode, it simply restarts episode 2 instead of going to the root menu. When I press menu while watching the first episode, it goes back to the root menu.

    2. I am unable to watch episode 3 or 4. The DVD shuts down. Doesn't matter if I select them in the menu or if I let episode 2 finish and roll into episode 3. It just shuts right down and the only way I can get back is to eject the disc, then close the tray again and the disc goes back to the root menu.

This seems like it should be a pretty easy fix since all I want to do is add the audio track to the VOB file... but obviously I am missing something. Can someone help me out? What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

You can use VobBlanker to replace parts of a DVD, however it would depend on how you authored the disc in the first place.

You keep talking about replacing a single VOB, however DVDs work in titles and titlesets. A VOB may contain parts of a title, or multiple titles, so you need to be sure of what you have.

I simply assumed(yeah, I know what happens when you assume) that each VOB contained the individual episode. My only basis for that was when I demuxed each individual VOB, they contained the episode their number correlated to.

Regardless, I did fix the issue. I ended up demuxing the original AVI, converting that sound to AC3, demuxing the soundless VOB2 of the DVD I made(to get the video), remuxed them together, and pasted the new VOB2 into the VIDEO_TS directory. Since I tried burning it like that to no avail, as mentioned in the earlier post, I decided to see how long it would take to reauthor the disc if I imported the movies off the DVD(as opposed to the original AVIs)... it was ~25 minutes to remake the files and another ~5 to burn. Wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be.

    All's well that ends well.

    Thanks for chiming in! 8)
