  1. hi, i was wondering if anyone has had any success burning an MPEG1 VCD with DVD2SVCD using CCE as the encoder. I've tried several settings including the default VCD.ini settings and the resulting movie file always has those (I'm not sure of the correct term) colorful squares interfering with a few particular frames. I read on dvd2svcd.org that TPMG is superior to CCE for MPEG1 encoding. I've tried using TPMG and indeed the problem was gone but the encoding time is far longer with TPMG than CCE. is CCE totally useless for burning MPEG1 VCDs? i've tried several times and those colorful squares are always there wandering about in the movie.

  2. yep that's why I wrote that it is pretty much useless cuz CCE is optimized for mpeg-2. Don't waste your time with CCE for VCD.

  3. i see. so what i experienced with the colorful squares is normal for CCE? just wanted to confirm that it isn't due to my settings or system. i'm curious to know if anyone has encoded an MPEG1 CBR VCD successfuly with CCE.

btw, what is the correct term for those colorful squares that pop up during certain frames?

  4. yes I encoded one sucessfully and I didn't experience green blocks, etc. like you did. However, my point is don't bother trying to ascertain why that is cuz it's futile.
