  1. Dear member

    1) I downloaded a film in AVI file.
    2) AVI was converted to MPEG using TPMGenc.
    3) I use Nero 5.5.9.0 to burn VCD. (I do not use the SVCD).
    3) The final MPEG1 file is 365 MB before the "copy compilation" but it increase to 700 MB after the compilation.
This mean that I can only burn 30 minute of video per CD-R.

Is it normal for an MPEG 1 file to double when comes the time to burn it with Nero ?
What setting do I need to change in Nero or TPMGenc so that I can that the CD-R capacity of 700 MB can play 60 minutes of video (with MPEG 1) instead of only 30 minutes

    Regards

When you used TMPGEnc, you probable made a non standard mpeg1, then Nero would need to convert it again.

    TMPGEnc
"Load" > templates > PAL or NTSC VCD template
    START

When you now have the final .mpg if its too big to fit on 1 CD, you need to use split/mege to cut it in half

  3. KingJohn,

Thank you for your advise but it still does not work even with the LOAD template at VideoCD NTSC. I left the bitrate at 1150.
For example my Sopranos AVI file was 218,000 before TMPGenc, than increase to 643,000 after than increase to 1,184,000 after Nero's compilation.
Any other setting that I need to look at ? I am sure that a 60 minutes Sopranos VCD can fit on 1 CD-R.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ericj

  5. Where do I find out if I am using MODE 1 or MODE 2 on Nero ?
And which Mode should I use

  6. if you used the wizard in nero and selected Video CD
it should have already set it to MODE2/XA

    no need to change
but maybe as it's said in this thread
    you created a non-standard vcd
and nero needed to convert it again

So, you had an AVI at 218,000 then used TMPGEnc to make a 643,000 mpeg1. But when you load it into Nero it encodes it again... Are you sure you are selecting VCD in Nero and NOT SVCD ? as it sound like Nero is now converting it into a SVCD ??

    Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)

    Super Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-2 480x480 29.97fps CBR 2520kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps) (Larger size)

  8. I was able to fix my problem by using VDCeasy.
Now I use "Burn Image" in Nero with a CUE/BIN file create with vcdeasy and it works perfectly. I need only 1 CD-r for my Sopranos.

Thank you all for your time.

    Best Regards,
