  1. Just got my new burner in, it's the plextor 40/12/40...got it pretty cheap...anyhow, I was having trouble getting my bios to reckognize it. Well I got it now, but I'm kind of afraid of changing anything (aka putting my cd-rom back in along side the burner) because for a while my computer wouldn't even boot up because of something I must have done wrong with the jumpers. I have a HD, cd-rom, and burner. Basically if someone could tell me what setup would work the best, it would be greatly appreciated! I've never been good with setting up the jumpers and whatnot....

If it's on the same IDE cable as your HD then it would be your Primary slave so you would need to set the jumper accordingly. If it is on same cable as your existing CD ROM then it is likely to need your jumper to be set to Secondary slave. Normal default out of the box will have a master setting not a slave.

You should see your current assignments during boot up or if you go into BIOS.

A tip: always best to keep CD rom & burner separate from hard disk IDE if possible.
