Okay, here's how you do it. Open your DVDit! program that came with the drive. Pick 'MPEG2 compliant' when it asks you what production you want. Then go the menu creation screen. The program will let you use one of its backgrounds to produce a 'first play' screen, or you can import one of your own backgrounds. A 'first play' screen is necessary because it is what the dvd players key on to tell it that the disc is playable. Just drag and drop the background you chose onto the first play menu. Now go to the text application screen (the icon looks like a T) and choose what text you want to apply to your text on the first play screen. This would typically be something like the title of your video and a link to any other menus that you might want to create (create them just like you created the first play menu). Now just pick what type font you want for your text and drag and drop it into your first play menu. Now you can adjust the color of the titles by clicking effect then text properties at the top of the prgram screen. Then just adjust your text color to what you want. You need to watch that you don't make the titles too big or they won't display properly on your tv screen. After you create your text, right click on any part of the first play menu except the text. Pick hide links. You'll see that the text you just created becomes black boxes. This is so that if you created text that just says "Play" you can drag your video from the media files into that box. Go over to the media screen (it looks like a frame of film) and right click on an empty portion of the menu. Select 'add files to theme', then add your video you created. Then you can go back to your first play screen and drag and drop your video file into the 'play' text you created (if you decide to go this route). You can add another menu by just slapping a background into the menu 2 sceen. Then go back to text and create some text for the menu 2 screen. You can link the first play screen and menu 2 by adding a link on the first play screen--like 'special features' or something. Then you can right click on the first play screen and drag and drop your menu 2 creation into the 'special features' text 'buton' you just created. That's how you create menus that link. Then after you've duplicated this process for your menus click on the play icon and you can test your menus to make sure they work properly. When you're satisfied with everything, click on 'build' at the top of the program screen. Then pick either build dvd disc or build dvd folder. If you plan to build a disc only, just follow the prompts (like whether you want to test burn, burn, or test then burn, how many copies you want, etc.)and the program will do the rest. Consult the help files of DVDit!---they are a wealth of information. Have fun with your creativity. Go all out to impress your friends. After all, if you're just making dvd's for yourself and your friends, the wow factor is what it's all about.

hey thanks for replying, i got sonic , my dvd software with the drive, but when i try to install it, i get a error and when i try to launch the program i get "not a valid win 32 application" i'm trying to find a demo version right now. i don't know if my dvd is win 2k compatible.

My DVD is win2k compatible. Download the demo of Uleads DVD Movie Factory or DVD Workshop to do simple and more elaborate DVD Authoring with your TMPEGEnc made mpeg2 file.

well i figured it out, i used dvd movie factory to make the video ts folder, then burned with primo, dvd factory seems like a shity dvd burning program.

DVD Movie factory is quite simple but it gets the job done for the money. I usually burn to a DVD-RW disc first to make sure it turned out like i want. If it turned out all right, then i do a dvd copy with nero.
