TMPGEnc Problem.

I have ran into a slight problem trying to rip Star Wars I from DVD to VCD.
Everything goes sweet as usual until I use TMPGEnc to convert to MPG. I use the PAL VCD template, but at 98%, sometimes 99%, I get the error message "write error occured at address 004028A9 of module "TMPGEnc.EXE" with 008F0F04". Anyone have any ideas? I have ripped and converted several movies before using this method with no problems.

When TMPG messes up does it generate the file it had so far or is all that wasted?
I have set TMPG to run right up to the error point..Then start another encode after the error point ( click on settings>advanced tab> double click source range and set from begining to about 97%)
This has happened in the middle of a movie to me, so I always encode second part...after the glitch and then use join to make one movie again.
But if yous is really 98-99% thats probly credits and I hate those anyway.

When I rip a DVD, I do it chapter by chapter, not all at once, so that I can make a simple menu on the VCD. But every chapter fails at about 98/99%. TMPGEnc does save what it has so far, but it means that the last few second of each chapter are missing.

Ok...How bout this....sounds like it has something to do with the ending of each chapters...on a regular DVD they all run together seamlessly...Maybe it has a hard time finding ending info...
So I sugest encoding whole movie at once....lets say its 90 minutes for simple numbers.....
Then you have one flawless file (hopefully) use cut and join to split into 10 parts ..say 9 minute chapters.... (or more depending on what ya want)

I've done this with nero...but it has real simple menus... I just setup like I am making a VCD with a bunch of clips.... Then set the pause between each one to 0(zero) when VCD plays it runs straight through whole movie or I can pick my own "chapter". Nero lets you chose thumb nail for each clip so it looks ok...
Other programs support better menus than Nero...But I like Nero and Menu is not important to me.....Just the movie

It could indeed be the endings, so I tried it out to see. I Ripped the entire Harry Potter movie chapter by chapter, and TMPGEnc encoded them all perfectly. I then used WinOnCD to make a VCD complete with chapter select, and it works just fine. Which means instead of trying to seperate the movie myself, I can use the chapters as the studio has divided them. The only nag is that when my DVD player moves to the next chapter, I get a very slight pause in the movie, like a DVD changing layers.
Anyway, back to the original problem, It has only happened so far with Star Wars I, so I guess it's just that movie. I might try to do the whole movie as one file, but it would be a big waste of time if it gets to 98% and stops again.
