Hi,

I downloaded the Centropy version of Spiderman-- an SVGA file.

When I watch it, the video will freeze after a bit while the audio continues. This happens in BSPlayer, Media Player, and WinDVD. The player then must be closed and reopened to un-freeze the image.

The video does not necessarily freeze in the same places. If for instance, I start the file after the credits, the file will play past where it froze before only to freeze a bit later.

I have tried the following fixes:

Downloaded and installed Anti-freeze, but Media Player still freezes.

Used TMPGEnc 12a to re-multiplex the file. New output file still freezes.

Used MPEG corrector. New output file is an "unknown format" to BSPlayer and won't open in anything else.

Virtual Dub will NOT recognize the file. I think because it is a MPEG2 file.

Used Vidomi to change the file to a .divx file. This plays fine, but is a smaller file of much lesser quality. I'd like to maintain my size and quality.

I thought of trying to convert the file to something Virtual Dub might be able to handle in case I have bad frames, but one of the first steps in the guide to use TMPGEnc to convert the file has me checking the frame rate in Virtual Dub (which won't open the file...)

I searched the forms for a solution, but didn't seem to turn up much that didn't involve Virtual Dub

I don't even know if this is a frame problem, since the players seem to freeze in different places depending on where I start my viewing. Even though a player froze in one spot, it might not freeze the next time in the same spot.

Thoughts? I am willing to convert the file, but I want to keep the image size and quality.

Thanks for the help,

Rob
