As the title says, I am having problems getting my DVD Player to play DVDs that I create from my PC. I am using DVD+R media from Verbatim and my DVD Burner is Liteon LH20-A1A. I have used several programs in an attempt to see if the results vary but the result is the same - DVDs that freeze, slow down and are choppy on my Onkyo DV-SP302 player. I have tested the DVDs in the Liteon Burner and they play fine. The software that I am using is DVD-Flick.
I was looking at the logfile that DVD-Flick creates and I did notice this statement. Would it help if I lowered the bitrate? DVD-Flick allows me to do that. Any other ideas? I am posting the info from media info at the end of this post.

Verbatim is good media so that should rule bad media.
Have you tried playing the dvd in another stand alone player? That player could just be picky about dvdr's.Donadagohvi (Cherokee for "Until we meet again") -

Any other ideas? I tried using DVD-R and the playback was better but still had pauses. I also cleaned the heads on the DVD.

I think we've ruled out disc media, so let's focus on content. Your source file is an xvid avi. There may be something wrong with that, or else the way it was converted to mpeg2.
However, the .avi seems to be a DVD rip. In that case, you should go back to your original DVD source and not use the .avi file. -

I still say it's a flaky dvd player. Try playing it in another player. If you don't have one then ask to play it on a neighbors or relatives.

It's too difficult to say with certainty. Your media should be good and you are burning at 4x speed which should be fine (some weird problems are sometimes reported when burning at faster speeds). I don't trust tools like DVD Flick much. So it could be a problem with the source, or DVD Flick doing a bad job or your media or your DVD player. freebird73717's suggestion is excellent. Try the disc elsewhere as if it plays fine elsewhere it's definitely your player's problem.
By the way, cleaning doesn't always fix problems. You can try it, but sometimes the only solution is repair/replacement.
