When your player recognize a DVD as VCD, there is something going wrong. Go to the store where you have bought it, and change it.

How did you author it? Some authoring programs only produce VCD's to the 1.1 spec. It's defintly an authoring problem. Even though VCD 2.0 is backward compatible (2.0 will play on a 1.1 machine) not all players can play a 1.1 VCD. Screwie eh?

    How to fix:

Down load VCD Gear from the tools section http://www.vcdgear.com/ to get your .dat file from your VCD back to a mpeg.

Then use another authoring program/method. Nero is pretty straight forward, and creates correct VCD 2.0 discs.

If that doesn't work, post a little more detail, like what the file specs are, your authoring program, you said others played, what's different about this file?

  5. Funny i got same player and same problem,
i havent made a single playable vcd yet but im close
ive tried NTI vcd, adaptec platinum, vcdimager gui and easy both, tried burning with nero as svcd and said vcd 1.1
next step im going to take is downlad a test and urn to see if im encoding wrong.
what methods did you use on previous playable vcd's ?
