I am converting interlaced DV camcorder stuff ntsc 704x480 to svcd. I still notice some microblocking whenever there is movement which I find mildly annoying. So I wonder if anyone knows:
1. On the mpeg configuration under video tab and video format, should the interlaced box be checked?
2. Under Advanced tab, I always check interlaced as video source type. Does anybody have a way to check the field order correct? Is the only way to see is to output it to a real TV and look for jumping or can you see the jumping on the tmpgenc preview? I tried the suggestion of checking de-interlace filter and watching on preview and I can't see a bit of difference.
3. Should I try soften block noise. My box is kind of cut off but I can see part of two boxes with percentage below. I can't read what they are. But If I use soften block noise what values should be entered in each of these two boxes?
4. Also since I am using and miniDV camcorder, should I be clicking "output data YUV as basic YCbCr"? Is that designed for camcorder DV users like me?
I appreciate any help I can get. Also, anyone think I should be using 12i instead of 12a which I have been using?
