You should decode at what ever fps works for the audio sync. Some movies require 23.976 while others require 29.97 fps. For the audio sync: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=87443

I tried to convert two different films to MOV via MM2D @ 24fps, and the sync was off. Now I convert everything to 29.97 and haven't had a problem with sync. Also, I didn't notice any overall improvement in conversion speed by encoding to 24fps, but that just may be my processor's fault.

  4. ok. i tried to decode rush hour 2 again, this time at 29.97 and the audio was still off. with accordance to the instructions given i increased the time on the video because the audio trailed it, and it still will not sync correctly. any clues you can give would be greatly appreciated.

also, is there any way to tell what frame rate a movie should be decoded at based on the format of the dvd?

Try encoding with the fps set to Best. This may be the answer because I had problems with it before and that fixed it. BTW, I did Rush Hour 2 at 23.976 and got the audio perfect.

Click the setting button, then under FPS click the dropdown button to the right of it. It should bring down a menu with a few numbers and the word BEST. If you don't see BEST, it should be first, just leave the box blank and see it it does it then.
