Greetings, I have been a VCD person for some time but now looking to dive into DIVX. I have to two simple questions

    1) I have seen MOVIE rentals for DIVX that last for a period, say 48 hours. Then the movie expires and is no longer playable. If you convert to a VCD , does it take that 48 hour expiration with it of does that get converted out ???

    2) I have a VERY stable version of TMPG (2.02.31.119). Will that convert DIVX files or do I need a newer release ? I had the one just prior to the PAY release but was not pleased, kind of buggy. If mine wont support DIVX I'll have to go with the pay version.

Help is much appreciated...I have had wonderful success for 6 months making all manner of VCD's and SVCD, all due to the info here.

  2. Be aware that there is a difference between DIVX (a sort of pay-per-view DVD) and DivX (a file format, just like mpg, asf, mov, etc...)
