    Hi All

Having downloaded Movies (legally ) in avi i have no trouble converting them to DVD but for some that come as a Video Clip (800mb avi ) i don't seem to be able to open them up. Can someone inform me how to do it or point me in the direction of a programme that will do it.

    Many Thanks.

  2. Convertxtodvd, Super, etc.

    AVI to DVD guides:

Use GSpot to determine what codec was used in your AVI. Then download and install that codec.

    Thanks Jagabo,

Maybe I,m not explaining it correctly as i use ConvertXtoDvd normally when the file comes as avi and i have no problem. Its when it comes in the form of a Video Clip that CovertXToDVD won't open it that is causing the problem. The Video Clip file says its 800MB avi but i can't open it (I have another two files the same) even tried MagicISO but still no joy.

No one can help until we know what you have.

    Hi Manono,

Done as asked, does this make any sence:-

    CODEC = XVID 1.1.2 Final

    Container:-
Note - 693MB uneeded bytes at end of file
    DIVX Style "packed bitstream" AVI
    AVI v 1.0 (0.01%)
    Video 92.9 end
    AVI OVERHEAD 693MB(99.99%)

To me it means nothing that helps.

  6. Install the Xvid codec or the Divx codec.

AVI is a "container". It was designed to contain audio and video compressed (or not) with an infinite variety of compression schemes. To decompress a video compressed with a particular type of compression you need the appropriate decompression program (codec = COmpress DECompress).
